Hey. I don't normally leave comments, but I just wanted to say thanks for the great information. I have a blog too, though
I don't write as good as you do, but if you want to check it out here it is. Thanks again and have a great day!

Betty, I felt overwhelmed by #5, good luck!
I truly believe that we have reached the point where technology has become one with our lives, and I am fairly confident when I say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as memory gets cheaper, the possibility of copying our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could see in my lifetime.

Okay, this post garnered some really strange Anon comments.
That's a LOT of work, I hope you find a really good contractor to help with the stuff that you can't handle on your own.
Ah, yes. I could write a very similar list for my rural home. Reroof, re-side, new gutters and new windows pretty much all at once. New flooring throughout. Replace the 25 yr old hot water heater with an on-demand type. New kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanity, plus countertops. Low flow toilet. New interior & exterior doors. Repair/replace fencing. I just don't have a chimney! And, luckily, my next door neighbor is a contractor. All I need is money. I just do one thing at a time as I can afford it (or when there's a crisis, like when part of the roof blew off the other winter). And I do a *lot* myself.
I'd buy IKEA cabinets and put them together myself, put in the new floor myself, but then let the contractor hang the cabinets (as getting them level is the tricky part).
Insulation is another possible DIY but drywall is very finicky, especially the taping/mudding part. Also, let a pro hang doors as they have to be leveled from several directions all at once.
Wow, you've got a lot of fixing in that list. I think you should be thankful, at least you can save some money for the painting tasks. Those are heavy house works, and unless you are an eager carpentry hobbyist or a professional yourself, you can't perform all of those.
This is awesome, it clarified some contradictions I had read.
