The Mortgage Increases

This is the first month that I will be paying my increased mortgage. Yuck. I budgeted for it since I had a low paying August and did not bring in as much money as I though I would on my part time job. I also pre-paid for my 1st winter propane delivery to save some $$$$.  Cash was in short supply a few times because I failed to plan properly.

The good news is the other worker bee at my weekend job will be leaving soon to back on her "medical leave" for at least three months. That will be three months of me working every weekend. I am even giving consideration to working Christmas this year to save up the funds. I don't really celebrate the holiday, despite being of the Christian faith.   I figured out that I was able to survive on my reduced hours schedule (did not make too many financiall goals, but paid all my bills, plus) that I can use the experience of the past 6 months to be more disciplined in my savings.  I have used my e-fund a few times and did not always replenish the full amount I took out.  That simply has to change. I was doing fairly well socking away money to my credit union account, I really slacked off the past few months for no good reason!

How are you doing on your saving goals?

  1. I'm on the credit debt repay since my divorce, ugh, but I still manage to save $40 per week with my ING account.

I love that it's directly transfered, that way I don't miss the money each week.

  2. I don't have any story I would like to share with the internet but I'd like to say how much I appreciate your blog.
It drives me crazy when I hear about people who have severe money problems, yet feel the need to provide new phones for their kids or eat out for lunches and family meals or who have groceries delivered.
I'm not judging them but all those things are so not like me on a budget.
It also drives me nuts when a dear person I know puts money into savings rather than pay off her high interest rate loan and credit card. She loses money every month and can't understand the explanation.

  3. Anonymous-great comments and I agree, while we do need to be savers (E-fund or what ever). It is just as important to pay down those high interest loans and CC's, then think about all the money you can save once those balances are down!

  4. Good luck with the increased hours at your part-time job.

  5. Sadly, I no longer have savings goals during this period of unemployment, mostly spending-less goals. But I might be doing better on that after I account for paying for school and such. That's taking a huge bite out of my savings.

I'm glad you have the opportunity to work more hours on the weekend job for a while - I'm sure that'll help shore up the cash supply.

  6. I'm trying to save and help my boyfriend to pay off his debts, but it sure is slow-going. Good luck to you!
